Over 450 registered to attend Australia's premier mission conference

Registrations for Australia's premier mission conference have closed, with over 450 people set to attend the three-day event in Sydney next week.

The biennial 'Mission: one heart many voices' conference will see some of the world’s leading voices on mission and theology gather at the SMC Conference and Function Centre in Goulburn Street from Monday, May 15.

Bishop of Parramatta Vincent Long van Nguyen, Oxford University lecturer in mission Cathy Ross, CEO of Catholic Social Services Australia Father Frank Brennan and Vice-Chair of NATSICC Evelyn Parkin are among the conference's keynote speakers.

Lana Turvey-Collins, who will co-emcee the conference, says the 2017 event will look to challenge and inspire. ‘The conference will focus on the key themes of reconciliation, mercy and leadership for mission with a view to building the kind of church of which Pope Francis speaks, both for now and the future.’

The immersive and comprehensive program includes six keynotes, five masterclasses, five facilitated conversations, thirty-five workshops and seminars, and ten experiences that creatively engage the heart in mission through the arts.

‘Mission: one heart many voices is a fantastic professional development opportunity for leaders in mission across the health, education, social services and corporate sectors,’ said Ms Turvey-Collins. ‘It is a chance to learn from one another as well as from renowned experts in the field of mission.’

A special resource available for purchase at the conference will be the newly released Francis Effect III: The Mission of Love and Mercy.

Published by Catholic Mission and Catholic Religious Australia, who are jointly producing the conference, The Francis Effect III draws on recent teachings of Pope Francis following the Year of Mercy, including in his encyclical, Amoris Laetitia
